Drabble Letter #6: Our Demons

To Our Demons,

However befitting are the words, I hesitate to speak of the plague, pain and damnation you wreak. For whilst I lend myself to no particular creed; I need not be personally invested to recognise that you are unworthy of the reverence.

Nonetheless, such metaphors, like others, are pertinent.

From the earliest serfdom through the struggles of the South: strength and courage shall always surface. As the native of one tortured region once put it:
You can cut all the flowers but you cannot keep Spring from coming.
Ours is to reason why.
We will bury your chains.
