‘To Be’ – a poem

To Be

wanted
for what I have to say
to be that single flame
every single day.
To be wanted:
closer, closer
pulled forever closer.
To be wanted:
my tongue in another’s mouth
vulnerable; spread out
For everything we were warned about.
Wanted:
From the Surrey Hills to the East Bay.
To be
why ecstasy replaces
the time which runs away
something to shed storms
something to write home and
something to scream about.
